Q. Write an article in about 120 to 150 words on the topic The Increasing Problem of River Pollution

River Pollution refers to the mixing of unwanted things in water of the river making it unfit for drinking.

We all are aware of the increasing problem of river pollution, yet we hardly do anything to stop it.

We know that rivers are the biggest source of water, but, unfortunately, they are being polluted by various human activities.

There are various reasons by which rivers get polluted. Industrial waste is one of most important factors that pollute our rivers badly. City waste drained into the river makes it dirty.

Certain religious ceremonies like idol immersion with garlands of flowers and ashes poured into the rivers after the cremation also make them polluted.

Thus it is our duty to save rivers from being polluted, otherwise there will be the shortage of potable water. So the people living beside the the rivers need to adopt various measure so as to keep them clean and safe from being polluted. It is because if we drink dirty water we will suffer from several diseases like diarrhoea, typhoid, dysentery, cholera, etc.

There are certain ways by which we can reduce it to a great extent. People living beside the river should stop taking bath and washing animals in it. To dispose off industrial wastes, it can be recycled, buried in the layers of the earth, treated in a wastewater treatment plant if it's a liquid waste.
