The Lake Isle of Innisfree Summary

   The Lake of Innisfree. The poet expresses his desire to go to  Innisfree, There he wants to build a small cabin with clay and twisted sticks. The poet further says that he will grow beans there; and keep a hive for honeybee so that he can get fresh honey. He  wants to live all alone in peace there amidst the loud sound of bees. In the second stanza, the poet describes some features or qualities of the island Innisfree. In this process he says that when he reaches there,he will have peace; which will come to him slowly. He finds peace where the fog envelopes the surroundings during the morning time, and where the cricket sings. There at midnight on the lake island of Innisfree, the stars twinkle in the sky; the sun glows with a purple colour at noon; and the linnet birds are seen flying in the sky in the evening. ON KILLING A TREE BY GIVE PATEL

           On killing a Tree The poem is about the views of the poet on killing a tree. The poet says that it takes lots of time to fell a tree; that it is not possible to fell a tree from a sudden rough blow of an axe, as it has grown gradually taking nutrients from the earth; that it has fed itself upon the crust absorbing sunlight for many years; and that the leaves come out from its discoloured bark. The poet basically describes the various activities that a tree does throughout its life to sustain itself. Here the poet says that it is not possible to destroy the tree completely by only striking heavy blows or cutting into pieces. Of course, this will give a little pain to the tree, but that will heal again just as it is done in case of a human being who gets bled after a cut and recovered very soon automatically.
