Dust of Snow
Dust of Snow
This poem describes the activity of a crow which shakes off snow sitting on the branch of a hemlock tree. The fine particles of snow falls onto the poet who is sitting under the tree. In the beginning, the poet remains upset, but the showering of the snow on him changes his mood and makes him realize that he was wasting his time. Thus the crow which symbolizes disaster helps him save the rest of the day from being wasted.
This poem shows us that there are several things in the world that reflect negativity, but sometimes also help us in the upliftment of our depressed mood. Through the poem the poet reflects negativity by the severe winter in which it's snowing; the crow, symbolizes death; and the hemlock tree, a poisonous tree. These negative things help the poor get out of bad mood.
The conclusion is that even the simplest action that happens in the world can have a significant impact in one's life.
