The Lake Isle of Innisfree Summary
The Lake of Innisfree.
The poet expresses his desire to go to Innisfree, There he wants to build a small cabin with clay and twisted sticks. The poet further says that he will grow beans there; and keep a hive for honeybee so that he can get fresh honey. He wants to live all alone in peace there amidst the loud sound of bees.
In the second stanza, the poet describes some features or qualities of the island Innisfree. In this process he says that when he reaches there,he will have peace; which will come to him slowly. He finds peace where the fog envelopes the surroundings during the morning time, and where the cricket sings. There at midnight on the lake island of Innisfree, the stars twinkle in the sky; the sun glows with a purple colour at noon; and the linnet birds are seen flying in the sky in the evening.
In the third stanza, the poet determines that he will now stand up and go to the lake island of Innisfree, for he always hears the low sound of water striking the shore while standing the roadway or on the pavement of grey colour. He also says that he hears it in his innermost part of the heart that urges him to go there instantly. The main thing that the poet wants to say is that he is fed up with the city life and wants to live in peace in Innisfree.
