QUESTION TAGS
A question tag is a short clause that we add to the end of a statement in order to turn it into a question or check that the statement is correct or to invite a response from the listener.
i. You are a musician, aren’t you?
ii. She can’t swim, can she?
iii. He plays football, does he?
1. When we use auxiliary verb be, do or have, a model verb or main verb be in the main clause then we use the same in the tags.
She was crying, wasn’t she?
He does look like his father, doesn’t he?
They have waited a long time, haven’t  they?
She can swim, can’t she?
2. If there is no auxiliary verb or model verb in the main clause, we use axillary do, does, did in the tag.
Hey plays hockey, does he?
She dances beautifully, doesn’t she?
The girls wanted to go home, didn’t they?
3. If the main clause verb is - I am then the negative tag is, aren’t I
I am late again aren’t I?
4. If the main clause verb is, used to the tag verb is did.
Martin used to live in Oxford, didn’t he?
5. If the main clause verb is ought to, the tag verb is most commonly should.
We ought to do our own work, shouldn’t we?
Or for less commonly oughtn’t we?
6. When tags  follow imperatives, the tag verb is usually will.
Call me this evening, will you?
Question Tag 
Question tags turns statements into yes no questions. They are of two types.
1. The first type of question tag consists of an affirmative main class and a negative tag or negative main clause and an affirmative tag.
a) She is a doctor, isn’t she? 
b) The train hasn't arrived yet, has it?
We use type 1 question tags when we expect the answer to the question to confirm that what we say in the main clause is true.
A. You study in class 5 don’t you, don’t you?
B. Yes that’s right.
A. Sam is not very old, is he?
A thinks that it is true that Sam is not very old.
B. No he is only 24.
2. The second type of question tag consists of an affirmative main clause and an affirmative tag.
i. You are his friend, are you?
ii. She got the email, did she?
We use type 2 tags when we don’t know if the answer is yes or no.
Imperative tags
1.A tag after an imperative clause softens the imperative a little. The tag verb is most commonly will.
But we can also use would, could, ,and won’t.
I. Turn the TV off, will you?
II. Don't Shout, will you?
III. Come here a minute, can you?
3. After an imperative sentence let’s, we can use shall in the tag.
Let’s have some lunch, shall we?
4.After let him/ them/ me in the imperative sentence, we use will you in the tag question.
i. Let him do it, will you?
ii. Let me do it, will you?
iii. Let them do it, will you?
After a request, advice, invitation, suggestion wish, order etc. with an imperative sentence, we can use will you for positive meaning and won’t you for negative meaning to for a question tag.
i. Open the door, won’t you?
ii. Drink fresh water, won’t you?
iii. Do it now, will you?
But if the imperative sentence starts with don't we use will you to for question tag.
   Don’t go out, will you?
   Don’t run fast, will you?
